Sister to JEUNE has Colombia foal

Half sister to 1995 Aust Horse of the Year JEUNE produces Colombia colt

Saveur, the 22 year old mare by Ardross has produced an outstanding colt by Colombia this spring. He was born at Longspring Stud at 12:40 am on the Sunday (Oct 4) after the Kelt Capital Stakes in HB in a beautiful evening with a fullish moon and a warm night. Just as well because by Sunday evening the winter weather was back with a vengeance. Snow, rain and a bitterly cold wind.

Saveur is an unraced English bred mare but with impeccable connections! She is a half sister to two Stakes winners including JUENE (Kalaglow), 1995 Aust. Horse of the Year with 10 wins – 1 at 2 – from 1200m to 3200m. He won ₤168,186 and A$2,490,560 including the VRC Melbourne Cup, Gr 1, AJC Queen Elizabeth S., Gr 1, VATC CF Orr St. Gr 1, Underwood S., Gr 1, VRC Craiglee S. Gr 2, Royal Ascot Hardwicke S., Gr. 2, Kempton September s., Gr 3 and the Goodwood Predominate S. L. before retiring to stud. Saveur is also a half sister to BENEFICIAL (Top Ville) who had 6 wins – 2 at 2 from 7f to 1/12m, ₤231,777 with his most notable win being the Royal Ascot King Edward VII S, Gr. 2.

Saveur herself has produced seven winners in five countries (GR, France, Spain, Japan and Australia) including Puntal (Bering) who had 13 wins for ₤228.937, 476,42 fr. In NZ, she has a four year old filly Beautiful Day by Pentire that is expected to be racing this season.

Saveur’s current owner Norm Amey from Foxton already has a 2 year old colt by Colombia out of the mare who is an outstanding type and is delighted to have another colt foal after losing a filly by Colombia at foaling last year. All efforts will be made to get the mare back in foal for what will be her 14th foal.
