LS connections in Australia eventing

It was a great achievement for two of the NZ Young Rider team chosen to compete against an Australian Young Rider team in Australia to have Longspring connections with our foundation sire Distelfink. DARK MAGIC LS with Helen Bruce is by Distelfink out of the TB mare Black Beauty by Makor and HENTON ATTORNEY GENERAL with Lizzie Brown is by Annamour (Han) out of Delphi by Distelfink. Henton Attorney General was bred by Bridget Sutton.

The Kiwi Eventing Young Rider Team take Victory

The NZ Young Rider team won the trans tasman competition held at Camperdown on the weekend of 21 April 2009 with a fantastic cross country phase conceding just 2 time penalties over the Australian team who were overnight leaders after the dressage. The NZers had a 30 point lead going into the showjumping and followed up with all clear rounds from all NZL team members. Individually, Lizzie was 3rd overall and Helen was 5th.

After the teams competition, Helen Bruce and Dark Magic LS returned to NZ, but Lizzie Brown stayed on for further competition.

Melbourne CCI**

It seemed too good to be true when Lizzie Brown and Henton Attorney General were leading after the cross country phase. However, they were one of many combinations that struggled with the show jumping course and although the combination only had one rail, it was the seven time faults that saw her slip to 3rd place.

3rd place is still pretty impressive in this company!

Chief Justice

It was also interesting to see that Chief Justice by Tribune who stood at Longspring is also continuing to do well. He was bred by Campbell & Jenny Draper out of their One Pound Sterling mare and started eventing with Campbell and was sold to Australia as a Novice eventer.

From results we could pick up on the web, Chief Justice and rider Tallara Barwick finished 10th in the Melbourne CCI***; 8th in the Sydney World Cup in May and 5th at the Scone ODE in March.
