Longspring sponsors raffle

Proceeds to the Young Eventing Riders Development Fund.

While Distelfink was well known as a top sire for showjumpers, not many riders in NZ appreciate that he was more internationally successful as a known sire of event horses. In fact, he was named as 3rd on the Sire Rankings in the FEI World Breeding for Sport Horses Federation for event horses in 1997.

His offspring in the past included GV Braveheart, 7th in the WEG with Australian rider Olivia Bunn, Denver LS, Danzar LS, Freetime, Dice, Whiplash, Dan the Man, Joint Account LS and more recently Dark Magic LS with top young rider Helen Bruce.

Longspring believes the way forward for this country in terms of eventing is to provide more opportunities for our up and coming young riders to gain valuable overseas experience and to have regular training with top known riders. To this end, we have decided to sponsor a raffle for a free service to a stallion at Longspring. Raffle tickets at $5 each are available at equestrian events or online from vic@syenz.com or from Lizzie Blunt at the ESNZ office.

Winners can choose from Colombia (proven eventing mares only), Tiger Moth LS who is out of a full sister to the phenomenal Super Moth, or Darkminster who is the last Distelfink colt and is out of a mare by Westminster. The owner of Colombia is Norm Hawthorne and the owner of Darkminster is Maurice Beatson.

2ND prize is $565 worth of equine reproduction services from Syenz; and 3rd prize is a copy of Main-Events for Horse Owners software.
