9 winners (11 wins) in just over the last 8 weeks has put Colombia back in the spotlight as one of this country's most versatile sires. They sprint, they stay and they jump!

His pedigree is one of the country's best being by 13 time champion sire Zabeel out of the 3 time champion broodmare Eight Carat.  This makes Colombia a full brother to 5 Group 1 winners including Octagonal, Marquise, Diamond Lover, Kaapstaad and Mouwad. His sibling sisters then went on to produce another 5 Group 1 winners including Don Eduardo, Tristalove, Antwerp, Danewin and Shower of Roses.

Colombia, a record priced yearling in the 1998 Karaka Sales was unraced due to injury. At stud, he has now had 138 to the races with 69 winners - total earnings of his progeny are very close to $5 million worldwide.  The value of his pedigree has been spotlighted recently with a number of high profile new winners breaking through the maidens.

Over the last 8 weeks, 9 of his progeny have won races including Kid Colombus, Govind (2 wins), Toby Cee, Cap Colombie, Inevitable (2 wins), Best Treasure (MAC), Oforawesome, Magic Haul (SINGAPORE) and just this last weekend Stand Up.

Included in this group are a number of very promising new winners for Colombia including Govind who has had 2 wins and 5 placings from 8 starts since March and is shaping up well for some black type this season.

Govind, a 4 year old out of Aimee's Girl (by Justice Prevails). Aimee's Girl is a half sister to Aimee's Idol, a stakeswinner by Colombia from his first crop to race. She won $114,940 and 6 races including the Waikato RC Sprint H with placings in the Waikato RC Foxbridge Pl L and the BOP RC Tauranga Classic L.

Another of the Colombia youngsters to break through the maiden ranks in the last 8 weeks is the 3 year old Oforawesome who in 3 starts has had a win, a second and a fourth.  He has a big finish and looks a very promising young horse for the future. Oforawesome is out of the mare Landvetter (by Felix the Cat).

In Singapore all eyes are on Magic Haul, who is out of a half sister to the VRC Queen Elizabeth Stakes Gr 3 winner Sterling Prince by Colombia.  Magic Haul has had a win and 2 placings in 4 starts in Singapore since June.  His dam is Golden Princess (by Kashani) who also produced Mercury Angel by Colombia who has now won 5 races in the South Island. Golden Princess is due to foal to Colombia again this spring for owner Max Armstrong who also owns Sterling Prince.

Sterling Prince is already in Australia in a lead up to the spring racing and is according to Armstrong is looking better than ever!
