Our Experience as an Owner

For the past month or so, we have had one of our young horses in the care of the team at Longspring.  Having had an unfortunate experience with the professional in whom we had previously entrusted the horse for starting, we were in a dilemma as instead of the intended outcome, we had a young horse with problems and a very worried state of mind.  We contacted Longspring and asked for Rupert’s assistance in turning the situation around.

We were immediately impressed with the horse management with the team at Longspring and particularly Rupert’s affinity for a young horse’s needs.  Rupert, although always working with great patience, has turned the situation around in a very short time and the horse is making visible and lasting improvements every day.

We are very particular about the care, both physical and emotional our horses receive and can report that the environment at Longspring is ideal for any horse.  The horses are cared for and their individual needs constantly considered and monitored.

As owners of eventers and part-owners in a race-horse, Russell and I have been exposed to a variety of experiences when entrusting our horses to a professional for schooling or competing.  The highlight of dealing with Longspring as owners is the open, honest and frequent communication.  We are welcome at all times, and our goals not only to correct the horses’ previous poor education, but also to have our daughter comfortable and connected with the horse has not only been respected but encouraged.

An unexpected bonus has been the improvement in our daughter’s riding and understanding of how to connect to a young horse under Rupert’s expert tutelage.

We enjoyed every visit, watching in his progress and being able to participate and be part of this progress – rather than feeling that we have “handed the horse over”.

We are delighted with our association with Longspring and would unreservedly recommend them to other owners.
